The real stars of this story are the pets that this pair rescue along the way. I think this book would be so much stronger if the author had skipped some of the worst BL tropes (the borderline noncon and harassment) and just allowed these two characters (who are really great on their own) to be in a relationship that didn't involve random sexual harassment that honestly felt out of character by the end of the story.

This was solid read. The couple dynamic is cute. There is an age gap, 19 and somewhere in his 20s. I liked this more than I thought I would.

A cute slice of life that has a focus on interactions between the main couple. It's not always the most romantic relationship focused, but their interactions are fun, so thats fine. I like their dynamic. It's pretty low stakes apart from the brief kidnapping plot that's comes a little out of nowhere, and the pet detective part takes a backseat towards the end in favour of the relationship. I feel a lot of it could have been developed and expanded on, but for a oneshot, I think that's fine.
