”Why is it that the time seems so long when you’re waiting for something nice to happen, and so short when something nice is happening?”

Another great front cover and a very peculiar story too. The Five set off on a camping trip to the moorlands with their teacher Mr Luffy and plan to spend their time exploring and hiking. But after they meet farm boy, Jock, and start hearing tales about spook trains that come and go in the dead of night, they soon find themselves in the middle of an adventure.

This one has probably had one of the most unique storylines so far I reckon. Perhaps a bit far-fetched and unrealistic but I really liked how different it was compared to the other ones.

Wasn’t really a fan of how absent Anne was in this adventure though - the sexism and other outdated stuff are all still present. It was definitely very spooky though and I quite enjoyed it.

I remember this particular Famous Five story really well from when I was a yoof! It really interested me, what with the "Spook Trains" and everything. And this is the first one of the set where the main characters haven't said or done something that makes them seem like elitest snobs! 4/5.
