Start with doing the dishes!

Repetitive maybe, but that's her point. Getting your slob life and slob vision (which I definitely have) is never ending. But the fact is, she gets it. She starts off admitting this is not a book for tidy people. This is a book for people who frequently look at their home and want to just set it on fire and walk away because WHERE TO START is too overwhelming. So go wash your dishes.

This book had some great tips for the not naturally organized. I must admit that the text felt a bit like it was mostly written for a certain group of people, mainly white, American rich women, who were born and raised with conventional gender roles. Still, the book was well-written, funny and informative and had several interesting points.  The humour was a balm for my overwhelmed and anxious mind, and the steps and information were easy to follow and useful.  I could recommend this book to anyone who feels like I do about the chaos of my home and is seeking compassion and helpful ideas. And people who manage to ignore the lack of diversity in the POV.

This person gets me

This stuff really nails it for my creative ADHD brain in ways I've never experienced before. Incredibly reassuring and the tactics are actually helping me!

The common gender stuff from homemaking books happens a bit but most of the time she talks about personal experience and says 'you'. It's only when she says things like 'I wanted to encourage women', 'I receive emails from women', etc where it's obviously gendered and they don't happen that often.

Definitely worth a read for anyone who feels like they just aren't designed to have a home that's not a disaster zone. Turns out it's not hopeless.

This book is for those people (like me) who like the idea of a clean house but don't seem to have the practical skills or habits to sustain it.

Good stuff, just not the right time for me

Never thought I'd be reading a book about how to keep my house clean, but I'm so glad I did. As someone with ADHD, I found this book so incredibly helpful. The author makes it so easy to take bite size chuncks and really make a difference. My home is already consistently so much cleaner and it's only getting better!

A more practical approach - by changing mindset - to keep your spaces more organized, especially aa we live in an era of too much stuff (!).

Helpful guide for people who struggle to keep their house in order from someone who can relate. A fantastic resource with simple step by step directions that have made a difference in my own home.

Whether you have ADHD, chronic health issues, or are just a “slob” like the author, this book is the right combination of understanding and kind and the kick in the pants to get started!
