Incredibly helpful for someone who just isn't a Normal Clean Person (it's me, the slob). Easily adaptable to days where mental health makes you feel like nothing is ever gonna get done or be good again.
Did not finish. There is nothing wrong with this book exactly but I've been listening to her podcast since the beginning so all the information was redundant.

fast-paced
Nothing earth-shattering here, but it was great to know I'm not alone in my struggles. She made me feel like there is hope for me yet.
I have to admit I'm doubtful that her system works as well for people working outside the home full-time, but I'm willing to give out a try.

I occasionally joke and say I am a hoarder. My house isn't overrun, but even though we moved into our house 2 years ago, I still don't feel like there's a place for everything. Some of that is because we do actually need a few more pieces of furniture. Some of that is because I struggle to let go of things. This book has changed my view of decluttering. I've been able to let go of a few things I normally would have clung to. And I've started picking up my house daily and building new habits. This is a book for anyone who struggles to keep their house clean and looks longingly at those decorating magazines wishing they could do that to their house. This book reminds you, you are not alone, there is hope, and it does not have to be perfect to be clean. It's a process. And it can be done, even when you don't have a mind that thinks like all those other professional organizers!

This was helpful information, and I liked it in audiobook form. I also liked that her method is very baby step oriented and focuses on the basics, so it's not overwhelming.
“The dirty little secret about most organizing advice is that it’s written by organized people."
I *loved* this book. I am not a naturally organized person. It didn't really occur to me until I read this book that this makes me fundamentally different than people like Marie Kondo, who played at cleaning as a child for fun. Like the author of this book, I've spent my life waiting to become a real grown up, and just naturally have a clean house, or enjoy cleaning, or for something magical to happen. While I've gotten better, and having a dishwasher has been life-changing for me, the magic hasn't really happened. And White explains why in this book: it's not magic. I think this book is important even if just to reassure people like me that there are other people like me. To deal with the huge amount of shame attached to house-cleaning, particularly for women who, like me, grew up with mothers who cleaned obsessively and perfectly.
I think her daily non-negotiable task habit plan with the 28-day kickstart is brilliant and will change my life, but even if it doesn't, this book is important. The way to have a clean house, is to clean your house. And it's not to do big, giant, perfect tasks like cleaning your whole house perfectly and then maintaining it. It's to do little, manageable things, but to do them every day. There is no shaming in this book, and she also discusses things like how to get rid of items that you feel guilty about not wanting, or convince yourself you might need someday.
Also, as she proudly states, she's funny. And she really is. Love. Highly recommend if you're a person who has ever worried about or, more importantly, felt shame about, housework. Also a fun read!

This woman gets me. It was like she was in my head spying on my thoughts about keeping a house. I am really very thankful she is so like me that it sounded like she had a secret mission into my thought processes because she gave me advice from a perspective that made sense to me and called me out on all of my excuses but from a place that she got it, because she does.
Now, I must go do the dishes! ;)

Great ideas to declutter that didn't seem overwhelming. I think I will need to re-read over and over to help me remember.
Great book with lots of practical ideas and strategies for actually cleaning your house. Written in a fun conversational tone. It has definitely helped me.
