“Maybe you've known what it's like to be at the bottom, but I doubt you've known hell."
"That is what awaits you. And everyone in Fairydale. Hell," ”
Fairydale is a dark gothic historical romance with elements of horror, paranormal and fantasy in a 1950s setting.
We follow Darcy O’Sullivan, who is an orphan, and receives a letter to find out she is invited to her dead biological daddy’s funeral! FUNNN! An orphan finds out she has a living father only to find out he is indeed dead now. But the good news is she is included in the will. So she must come to Fairydale and attend his funeral to hear out the will.
Darc decided to travel to Fairydale and in this small coastal town, it holds a lot of secrets about her bloodline.
Everything in Fairydale is odd especially the find gentleman she meets named Caleb Hale.
I’m not gonna lie. You’ll either hate this book or love it. Darcy will annoy you and make you question how innocent and nice this woman is because HUH!
You will think you know how this book will end and have theories but honey.. no you won’t. This book is nothing as it seems. You will be confused and questioning what the fuck is going on.
This book took a minute to really kick off and hook you. I think after like the 30% you start to really get gripped into the book. I also hate how long the chapters are but also its a standalone so I’ll let it slide

Let me start by saying… this is a long book. It’s a mix of gothic, fantasy, paranormal fiction, romance, and a whole lot of smut, so if you’re looking for a little bit of everything, this book delivers.
Now let’s talk about Amon because he is the reason I kept reading. He’s the definition of a morally grey character, and I loved every second of it. He’s possessive but also so unexpectedly sweet, which made his character even more addictive. And the things that come out of his mouth?? OMG 😳
I’m not giving it 5 stars because there were parts that dragged a bit for me, moments where I was like, “okay, I get it, let’s move on.” Also… Amon does something to the FMC involving blood that was a hard no for me (if you know, you know 🤣).
The story jumps between three timelines, which isn’t my favorite. And finally I still don’t understand what Amon is exactly?? At one point I imagined him like Pokémon Mew, then upgraded him to Mewtwo… and then in the bonus epilogue, he has wings? A dragon?? I’m confused 😂
Still, it was a wild, steamy, and dark ride and if you love fantasy with spice and a morally grey man who’ll killed thousands for his girl, this might be your next read.
Thank you Atria books for the e-ARC for the re-release of this book.

like 2.25/2.5 honestly,, i have such mixed feelings about this thing,, the beginning/ middle were honestly engaging despite nonstop grammar errors and clunky dialogue, but the ending? and the big mystery unveiling? ehhhh fell REALLY flat,, also for an “extreme slow burn” there was a LOT of sex??? extremely excessive
tbh if the infertility drama didn’t happen and the author stuck more to the horror/ paranormal aspects that were really strong in the beginning/middle it would be an actual 3

Fairydale has been on my radar for a while and I was always on the fence about it cos a) it's long AF and b) people seems to either love it or hate it.
Now that I've ready it, I can firmly say that I loved it. It took me a while to get through it and I think that's partly cos I have no chill (and like to read multiple books at once) and partly because it took a while to get into Fairydale. All I can say is--trust the process.
Was Fairydale perfect? No - it was too long, there were some errors that took me out for a hot sec which I was able to overlook, and I wish the climax of the book was higher stakes. However, any book that makes me give multiple oral book reports to my husband deserves that 5 stars.
Again, this book isn't gonna be for everyone so I would recommend giving it a chance.
Thanks to Atria Books via NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review although I did read thru KU.

Gothic, seductive, and absolutely unputdownable. When orphaned English teacher Darcy O’Sullivan arrives in the eerie coastal town of Fairydale to claim her inheritance, she finds herself caught between an ancient evil demon named Amon and brooding war veteran, Caleb Hale.
“I might be evil personified, but you’re the only one I’ll ever be good to.” 🖤
This story is twisty, spicy, and soaked in secrets. Nobody is trustworthy, reality begins to unravel, and the bonus epilogue? Pure perfection. The writing is lush, the spice is 🔥, and the emotional payoff after all the plot twists and turns is unforgettable.

The first part of this book is great, couldn't put it down but then the OTT sappy romance went on and on and on (over 3 time periods!!) and most of the smut was just not needed.
It was far too long and if I hear "oh Amon, my Amon" ever again I am also going to learn how to blow people up with the power of my mind!
