Oh my goodness! This was an interesting and mind-bending read. First and foremost, let me warn you that this book is a whopping 700 pages long. Yes, you heard that right—700 pages!
Now, if you have an attention span that’s easily distracted, this might not be the book for you. I’m speaking from personal experience as someone with ADHD. The sheer amount of information and the constant switching between timelines, characters, and tenses were overwhelming for me. I felt lost and confused, which was unfortunate because I genuinely believed I would have thoroughly enjoyed this story.
On the positive side, the parts of the story that I understood were beautifully written and captivating.
However, I must admit that I wasn’t particularly fond of the characters. Darcy, in particular, was naive, oblivious, and overly trusting of others. She found herself in numerous precarious situations and, unfortunately, always ended up as the damsel in distress. The MMCs were also a bit forgettable.
If you’re a fan of lengthy, intricate stories with interconnected timelines and morally ambiguous characters, then this book might be worth checking out.
3.5 ⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ this was spicyyyyyy. Very explicit, “unconventional” open door scenes.
🖤🖤🖤🖤 this a DARK, thriller, paranormal romance. Take care while reading.
Thank you, Atria Books & NetGalley for my gifted advanced book copy 💕 All my reviews are my own opinion.

This is one of those books you sit down to read and enjoy. It's not a quick read, it's not smutty, but it is a good book. It's a tad long, but for this book I feel like it fits well.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Fairydale was a wild ride! It is a dark Gothic romance with elements of historical fiction, the paranormal, and fantasy. The first half of the book started out slow for me, but I attribute that to the immense world building and multiple timelines. Despite those facts, this reads very easily and is not confusing at all; a testament to Lancet's wonderful writing.
I was shocked and surprised at the direction this book went, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I enjoy books that cross generations and timelines, and Lancet did all of her characters justice. While at times the book felt downright sinister and you didn't know who to trust or which direction to turn, the ending was very satisfying and really held up to all of the build-up. Lancet artfully had me guessing until the very end.
I will be recommending this book to everyone I know.
Read This If You Like:
- Books about Magic
- Found Family
- Touch Her and Die
- Soul mates
-I will find you in every lifetime

“You’re like the most potent poison that’s infiltrated my blood, one that is as deadly as it is sweet for I can see in you both my beginning and my end.”
~~
FINALLY! I have finished this beast of a book and giiiirl do I have thoughts!
I dove into Fairydale refreshingly blind, without a single inkling of what was to come, and that made for one heck of a reading experience. Real talk, I am exhausted and my mind feels like it went a full 8 rounds with a Reva. I was incredibly confused at times, fuming at others, big time swooning, big time stressing, and ultimately failing at predicting what was to come. What a trip!
I genuinely found myself really vibing with Veronica’s writing. The dialogue was pleasant and engaging, and the different locations were super descriptive and imaginative. The romance?? Yall know I’m a sucker for fated mates and I must give major props to this one for such a hauntingly romantic tale of love and loss, and all the delicious heat in between 🔥
That said, the pace was a straight up crawl and I have to wonder if I would have enjoyed this story more if it had been split into a duology. Looking back on all that happened in the 750+ pages I slowly worked my way through, I’m honestly in disbelief that all of that fit into one book. I spent the first third of the book wondering what in the heck was happening. If the goal was to make readers feel what the FMC is feeling, mission accomplished! I was captivated by the middle third, and then sped-read my way through the final one. Truthfully, I came close to dnf-ing a couple times due to the length alone.
Overall, I still really enjoyed most aspects of this story and I’d like to check out more by Veronica Lancet. I’d rec this one to any of my fated mates-loving girlies who’s in the mood for a big ol magical mind💥

“I’m either truly losing my mind, or there is something really off about Fairydale.”
When Darcy gets a mysterious letter from her biological family’s lawyer stating she inherited a large some of money since her father died, but must attend the funeral first- she goes.
And nothing is ordinary in this weird town called Fairydale.
Darcy is a somewhat gullible and unexposed to life as she was raised by nuns and very must conservative so some of her actions are questionable but she starts seeing things. Hearing things.
Something isn’t right with the people of Fairydale … or is it her?
“If this is madness, then I fully embrace it.”
Her family and the other families of this town are vying for Darcy’s attention as they believe she’s the one to end the curse of a demon that live here in Fairydale.
This book is a journey. Truly a book that you want to take your time reading and not rush through. You are going to relive three different lifetimes with these characters and unravel a story that has expanded over 1000 years.
This is very much a slow burn romance. But a romance that is true fated mates that lasts an eternity and beyond.
There’s plot twists.
Suspense and mystery.
Gothic vibes in a creepy town.
Found Family. Who can you trust?
Magic and alternate realms
Paranormal galore
Eventual spicy and GOOD spice 🔥🔥🔥
This book is over 700 pages and I honestly wanted more towards the end. I wanted more of their ending and happily ever after. It’s one of those stories that I don’t think I would truly be ever fulfilled with because I just want to continue reading more about these characters and their lives.
It’s a beautiful emotional story that simply about how far will you go for love?
"Wherever you are, wherever you go..." he pauses as his gaze pins me to the spot. "Whoever you are. I will find you. That is my promise to you.
Always."
Normally, I don’t say this, but this is one of those rare books where I would say dive in blind without reading too many reviews. Check the triggers, of course, but I highly recommend going into this book completely blind.

The storyline of this book was unique (which a lot of new romantasy books are lacking), so that was enjoyable. I finished the book in a couple days, because I just wanted to know what was going to happen. That said...
This is the most toxic relationship I've ever read. Holy smokes. I did not find the MMC charming/alluring at all. There was also way more gratuitous smut than I expected.

Decided I wasn't ready to invest 30 hours into a book. Will probably circle back.
