While I can't say I loved this book as much as Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke, I think this book has cemented me as a fan of LaRocca's work.

If you love horror, if you love the weird and the bizarre, if you enjoy stunning prose... I think Eric LaRocca's writing is for you.

We Can Never Leave This Place is a tiny novela that packs a lot into it. It is a strange and beautiful, discombobulated reflection on grief and growth.

For some reason, I imagined Rake's voice as Freaky Fred's from Courage the Cowardly Dog, and I can't unhear it ("Naughty"). This was weird AF and unsettling, and Eric LaRocca is quickly becoming an auto-buy for me
