When this series was released, I heard it compared to Death Note. A LOT. And while there are major similarities, the biggest difference that I've found (in my humble, biased opinion) is that the pacing in The Promised Neverland is WAY FUCKING BETTER. Even though there are PAGE LONG exposition in dumps here, it never feels forced, boring, or slow. Yes, there's a lot speculating and theories tossed around like in Death Note, but the panel breaks and the imagery used makes it feel like the scene is flowing naturally rather than watching a group people in a room talk. Hell, even Norman's accusation towards Ray near the end and the following exposition dump flowed really well because they broke up the exposition with flashbacks, imagery, and panel breaks. I haven't read the Death Note manga in a long time so maybe I'm being unfair or am straight-up wrong, but the exposition dumps in always felt so slow and boring because, like I said, it was usually a group of people sitting around talking in a room. Yes, they would cut away to other things like evidence or an image, but it wasn't frequent enough to make the scenes flow naturally. Again, maybe I'm blowing smoke out of my ass, feel free to roast me in the comments section, but that's how I feel.

Honestly, that's all I really wanted to say in this review, but in case you wanted more than that, I enjoyed the tag scene between Sister Krone and the children and I fucking ADORED Ray's confession towards the end of the volume. He is my baby and I love him. A lot.

Great volume, great series, onto the next volume!

Another great manga that ends on a cliffhanger. Beautiful art with a mysterious story. I will definitely read the next volume soon.

Fantastisch verhaal!
