Though the characters felt a little flat, the story was interesting and had some unique elements. Mostly this was a "going on a journey" book, with some fantasy elements. Unfortunately, the audiobook was read by a narrator with a poor grasp of Spanish, so mispronunciations were frequent. Maybe that should be expected, since the author is British, writing about a place (a fictionalized version of the Canary Islands) she only visited once while on vacation.

It’s not that good. I find it random and that it gives too much info on certain parts and not enough on others. It was kind of random of all the things she put together for an adventurous book. Probs won’t read it again. It was a more been-there-done-that kind of book

I’m on a roll with not finishing books! Hope this doesn’t keep up! This book was for my book club and I had read it before a few years ago. I wasn’t fussed on it then and I’m certainly not fussed on it now. Wasn’t holding my interest and was actually making me push away reading at that point. Sorry book club just this one’s not for me!
