I was so silly not to know that this was based on a real story?

You would think this book is all about the Titanic, but the author doesn't even get to the Titanic until 60% into the book. Even then, there are only a few chapters spent where the characters are aboard the ship. Those few chapters were the best written out of the entire book. The majority of this book is descriptions, repeating over and over how terrible the press is, and the most surface level characters.

There is a love story but I wouldn't characterize this as a romance.

Great story if you are a titanic history nerd. But can’t get past the creepy age gap of the relationship and red flags masquerading as a love story.

A tragic but beautiful love story told through the perspective of a young mother sharing the story of her love for her husband with her unborn son

I really enjoyed this book despite the persistent anxiety caused by the impending doom of the Titanic and inevitable heartbreak it would cause for our main character. The way the story was told really gripped me and had me invested in all of the characters. It felt incredibly realistic and you can tell it was well researched.

It was kind of a sad read which i expected, i feel like the female lead really missed on just being a girl since she got married so young and i know that's slightly part of the plot but i just felt sad for her. I didn't expect the book to be so historically accurate too until i started looking up stuff about the titanic and fell down a rabbit hole.
