 This book got me thinking a lot about dramatic irony and how writing historical fiction can affect the effectiveness of dramatic irony. See, I know what happens to the Titanic. I've seen the James Cameron movie. I remember the size of the door. I, and most people who would read historical fiction, know this story.

Based on true events, Madeleine marries Jack Astor when she is just 18 years old. They eventually end up on the Titanic and only she survives.

This is a very detailed book which was interesting but made the reading take longer than my usual. The story is good but eventually the talk about the opulence gets old especially when characters are complaining about it. Even so, what a tragedy on the whole for everyone involved.
