I mean, eat the rich for starters.

30 year age gap? Super predatory and a lot of power imbalance.

I don’t think this was some star crossed love affair, but an older man in midlife crisis taking advantage of a younger woman. Full stop.

As an interest in the Titanic and historical fiction, this scratched an itch. I find the Gilded Age of America fascinating so that was interesting too, but the actual couple featured is problematic, in my 2025 opinion.

Otherwise well written, kept me engaged.

She. Was. SEVENTEEN?!? Difficult to get over that age gap. Otherwise, this book was okay.
(2 stars, but +1 because I did learn more about the Titanic, and it probably took a decent amount of research to write this.)

I enjoyed this book and learning some history I didn’t know. I was surprised how ruthless & relentless the media was even back then. If you like things related to the Titanic and that time period you will enjoy this book.

DNF

I am a Titanic Kid and I soooo wanted to like this but I couldn’t. It was wayyyyy too slow and I was slogging through the first few chapters and just couldn’t continue. Didn’t even get to the titanic part smh
