The Governess Who Captured His Heart is a novella so it's very short. I have been trying to pick a a historical romance where there is a class disparity for a week or two. Ruby suggested this one but I wasn't really sold to the idea but I didn't have any better books in mind, so I decided to pick it up.

Louise Potter has to travel with her employer's uncle, so naturally she thought the said uncle would be old but instead he's about her age. Alistair Langley on other hand thought her to be old after finding out that he had to travel with a governess.

Alistair was close to his father and he had a carefree childhood before he died. Louise on other hand has lost both of her parents and just wants the best for her sisters. Louise never had her season, so she couldn't help but stare at her traveling companion. The only men she has known have been either family or indistinct.

I like the romance but there's like zero development. They meet and dislike each other but then they start talking and-- hey they actually have things on common. Louise and Alistair have this attraction to each other but they can't really be together.

All in all a good read for novella. I just wish there was more development but I did enjoy the road trip aspect. This might be for you if you're in the mood for short historical romance without sexual content.

* I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I love that this one takes place mostly in the carriage. It’s very unique and different which I love. From the moment they met sparks were flying and knew it was going to be interesting. I loved the way they could talk to each other and the deal they made. His brother was different than I thought he would be in a good. The ending was perfect.

Louise is not your typical miss thanks to her mother and life. I loved her when she spoke her mind and when she told her story. She didn’t sugar coat anything and still had her dreams that she deserved.

Alistair is the perfect gentleman even though he speaks his not so gentlemanly thoughts. I loved his story and the way he was with everyone. He wanted to take care of himself and not rely on others.

A story of instant attraction, almost instant love, and there is only one bed!

Needless to say this has the set-up of sensual tension between Louise and Alistair, but neither give into their longing until they are neatly wedded and all is in order.

I did like Louisa as a character. She was sweet and we see more character development with her since this novella is the longest in the series.

Louise Potter is traveling north to her new job as a governess. One of three sisters who've fallen on hard times, Louise must travel with Lord Alastair Langley whose niece is her new employer. All is well until the maid who is chaperoning them falls ill and must be left behind.
This is a cute novella. Louise and Alastair spend the time talking and really getting to know each other. It's a point made in the story that they spend more time together than many engaged couples of the Ton, and made me believe they could fall in love together over the course of a week. I enjoyed the story; it's a quick read and perfect for a Christmas read.
