This story was much better than the first book in the series (One Dance With A Duke). I thought the overall writing was better, the love story between these two leads was much more compelling. The character of Rhys was dynamic and well fleshed out and his backstory played so well into his belief of fate. The plot twists and character development was exceptional and left me wishing that some of the side characters got their own books just to see more into their minds and lives. I was hooked from page one and could barely put this book down to sleep.
Moderate: Child abuse, Sexual content, and Death

An emotionally and physically scarred hero with a pragmatic but hopelessly in love heroine - what a delightful concept!
I really loved that this book focused more on working class people rather than the aristocracy as many historical romances do.

Graphic: Violence, Blood, Child abuse, Death, Fire/Fire injury, and Sexual content
