This was a perfectly fine, sometimes overly sweet romance. I personally don’t read teenage protagonists much anymore so it was difficult for me to relate and enjoy their perspective, hence the slightly lower rating.

So much repetitive feminism. Only so many times I can hear about it before I’m annoyed it’s the only excuse for any actions at all.

This was excellent - definitely YA, which I'm unused to these days, but it was lovely, tackled some hard issues with grace while not being to heavy either. Fun classic tropes too. Waffled between 4 and 5, but marked upwards bc Kaitlyn is just so damn nice.

This was a cute debut novel by Kaitlyn Hill. Not only did you have a cute baking show, some witty banter, but you had some discussion about serious issues including expectations of women, cyber bullying and self awareness.

Both Benny and Reese were very self aware for young adults. I also liked that Benny wasn't off putting toward Reese's experiences and often pointed them out and was flabbergasted by them as much as Reese was.

I really liked the feminism and exploration of double standards that exist for men and women in so many aspects of the world.

Love from Scratch was a quick and easy read and I look forward to seeing what else Kaitlyn Hill comes out with in the future.
