Incredibly well written guide to statistics, how to produce them better and the importance of communicating them properly. Only wish Spiegelhalter was a little less dismissive when mentioning the intertwined nature of modern statistics and the horrors of eugenics, and was a little more inclusive of his language (equating all breast cancer patients with women is common in some research, but feels a tad… ignorant? for 2019)

A very nice accessible book on statistics and their application to real world problems. I feel this sort of material should be part of every persons schooling, especially at this more general level.
Not all the subjects are explained with the same quality of examples but overall it is the first book i read where the bridge between the theory and its application comes to life.

An informative book that certainly gets across the complexity of statistical science and the various techniques which can be employed.
Certain concepts such as Bayesian inference, I didn’t feel were communicated particularly well. A topic approached in the latter half of the book and seemingly deserving of its own book.
It’s also another book urging critical thought wrt the information we receive via media etc.
