I love Darcy Coates. I consider her “cozy horror.” I really liked 13/50 stories. I plan to use them in the classroom. I liked how open ended a lot of the stories are. All of them are under 6 pages. Would recommend as a palate cleanser when reading another book at the same time.
queen of short stories (i don’t read shorts often) and queen of horror
A good collection of short stories on a wide variety of topics. Some where scarier then others but they were all excellentelly written.

My first Darcy Coates book and I'm extremely disapponited. Most of the stories weren't even worth reading. Unbelievable cliche & meaningless. There are fifty friggin' stories, I thought at least fifteen or twenty would be good, LOL. Only six of them were kinda worthwhile - Sixth Floor, Flotsam (disturbing), Music Box (gave me some chills), Skin House (creepy), The Woman In The Morgue & Room For Rent. I have a few other books by this author on my TBR, but not sure anymore if I'll be reading them.

I loved this collection of short stories. Growth, The Magpie Girl, and Angel of Mercy were some of my favorites. I really enjoy hospital settings when it comes to horror, so Angel of Mercy really got me. Skin House was absolutely wild and I loved every second of it. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because some of the stories were a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed them all.

A few decent stories amongst a bunch of "and then the monster got him" over and over. The Bogrot has the feel of a fun campfire story, and the one about the body on the beach is entertaininly unpleasant, but too many of these feel like half formed beginnings of books rather than perfectly formed flash fiction. Also, if there was an editor, they should be fired. Names change, villagers become townspeople.
