⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I have had this on my tbr for YEARS and I’m so glad I finally got to it. I loved the style of these short stories. They’re very short only a few pages each which is different from any short story collection I’ve read.
I really liked how there were stories from loads of different horror sub genres. There was creature horror, supernatural horror and physiological horror just to name a few.
I can’t wait to read more Darcy Coates in the future.

Fantastic

This was exactly what I wanted to read and was perfectly spooky. I would read so many more like this.

There were a few pretty good stories in here, especially in the second half. Some of the others had a decent premise but probably needed more than a few pages to flesh out into something interesting, instead ending with a cliched “the vengeful ghost wrapped its icy fingers around her neck” or “the creature lunged forward for its prey”. Seriously, every creature was carnivorous (though I guess we don’t know about the one in the wardrobe … one of the pretty good stories). And some of these stories were just lame and should’ve been edited out! I enjoyed Where He Can’t Find You and I’ve been told Quarter to Midnight is a better story collection so I’m eager to check that out. I have a similar anthology to this one but by multiple authors (Tiny Nightmares) and I’m curious to see what they do with the extra-short format. Clearly a tough way to tell a story!

Delightfully dark & disturbing, with a variety of tales, both unique & beloved tropes.

There's a little bit of everything in this collection; gothic, supernatural, thriller, body horror, psychological, just pure human evil, it's a well curated collection.

Some of the short stories was really great and you would love a hole novell about it. They made you're skin crawl.
