I don't understand why my library has all of Albert's books. They are not good. Granted, they're not bad either. But they wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my too-buy list (which is why I'm reading them free from the library while I wait for the hold on the book I actually want to read to come in). This one in particular was incredibly plot-less. The characters were blandly fine, and I didn't dislike reading a coffeeshop not-AU love story. But it was very forgettable.

4 stars - It was really good
Well this was a cute grumpy/sunshine story. Chris was a grumpy coffee shop owner and Lance was a playful college student planning for graduate school. These two were super cute and sweet together. I loved seeing Chris open up and relax. Lance may be a fun and energetic college student but he was also extremely mature and knew what he wanted out of life, which I loved about him. I really enjoyed this one but my only complaint was that I did get a bit tired of Chris’ constant complaints about the age difference. And I wish we had both POV’s just because that is what I prefer in romance books. Overall, I did really enjoy these two and look forward to reading more of this series.
Trigger warnings: death of sibling briefly mentioned; homophobic parents; death of a pet fish;

Another cracking good story based firmly in the real world. There's another age gap in this one too but unlike book two, I did feel this one could have been a bigger deal simply because of the different stages of life the MCs were at.
But it was handled beautifully and realistically with both men reaching a compromise and both of them realising the the age gap wasn't the real issue but building up trust that each person truly did know their own mind and what they wanted was.
The sex scenes were emotionally charged and incredibly moving at times as both Chris and Lance slowly fell in love not only with each other, but with the idea of a future of infinite possibilities.

This has been my least favorite of the Portland Heat books that I've read, but still enjoyable.
