Eh
I really didn't like the style of writing. It wasn't really very captivating, although the story line was good enough that I wanted to know the resolution.

Not one of my favorite's of Lippman's. I kept saying to myself "surprise me, surprise me" about the plot and it didn't happen.
Two little girls steal a baby from a porch and situations ensue.

Maybe three and a half stars. I'm going to have to space the Lippman books out--they're well-written and deftly plotted, and the characters have detailed, intriguing backstories. They're like a meal you enjoy eating--say, pork BBQ-- but can't eat too often without spoiling the sensation that you're getting a treat.
What I liked about the book was the rather prosaic resolution--lots of crime stories shoot for the big twist at the end. This one let the pieces come together into a story that made sense, but didn't fit too tidily together.

I liked the book...I wanted to know what was going to happen, but I felt like characters kept being introduced randomly, and I didn't particularly care for any of them. I kept thinking I was missing something. Eventually it came together, but it wasn't as thrilling as I had hoped.

Ugh. The lack of editing in this book is painful. Random detail after detail. The plot isn't terrible, but the book is so weighed down by random details and unsympathetic characters I just can't recommend it to anyone.
