Absolutely loved this book, I’ve been wanting to read about this story since I first read the original trilogy and this book was everything I wanted and expected but more. I’ve never cried reading a book but this one got me balling my eyes out for a minute. A true masterpiece for the way this book fits in with the rest of the series and the way it connects  BOSAS to the OG trilogy.

MISS COLLINS HOW COULD YOU RIP MY HEART OUT AND STOMP ON IT SO. HOW DARE.

This book really gripped me by the heartstrings and refused to let go. I could not. Put. It. Down. I loved Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This one twisted the knife even deeper and made me a hundred times sadder. It left me feeling bittersweet.. you know the whole time how it'll end but you still wish that it'll be different somehow.

This book broke my heart. Getting to experience young Haymitch's games and see his descent into the grumpy, sardonic man in the original trilogy was devastating. A wonderful piece of literature from Suzanne Collins and an excellent installment in the franchise.

Every time Suzanne Collins saw a thirst trap of Coriolanus Snow, she opened her word doc and made Haymitch suffer a little bit more
