Försökte verkligen läsa och njuta. Men det gick inte. Första gången jag hellre ser kommande filmen/serien istället för att läsa boken ;(

Depictions of mental illness were awful and I wish this book was much more than it was.

This book I don't know I mostly listened to the audiobook and it was not a great read/listen.
This read reminded me of "Episode Thirteen" that I had just read a couple of books ago. There was a lot of rambling in this book. Episode thirteen was a much better read and listen as well, the audiobook for episode thirteen was amazing as well. I should have DNF the lost village but since it was an audiobook I decided to finish the book all the way through. There should have been some content warnings maybe I did not see them. I would not recommend this book, I have read and listened to better books.

honestly this would have been perfect if it'd gone fully into ghosts instead of clinging to ~realism. you're not northanger abbey you don't need to make a point about gothic sensation literature just do ghosts. people don't want to lean into the supernatural anymore. sad!

This book would have ranked a lot higher for me if the characters knew what CPR was.

That said, the book was quite unpredictable and kept me intrigued.

I read this for a challenge that I needed and when I read the synopsis I was worried that this was going to be a scary horror book and I definitely don't get into those but I am glad I was wrong. This is a mystery thriller that keeps you guessing at most a little of a supernatural feeling for a short time. The story alternates between Then and Now with two story lines that end up crossing in the Now. The character development was not as good as I would have liked. I really didn't care for any of the characters in the Now story and only a couple in the Then. This has a Rev Jim Jones cult vibe.
