I don't know if this is really a 4 star, but it was so delicious after the last 2 weeks of sloughing through a viking time travel bodice ripper. I loved the two main characters and what felt like real issues with merging their lives. Specially Irene, she wasn't just a feminist when the story needed it. She was willing, but not happy to give up love to be herself. That felt so real.
Plus the narrator was excellent and did a great job of making Henry sound as uptight as he was described.
I will defiantly be searching out more books by ms Laura Lee Guhrke.

The Duke of Torquil runs up against love columnist Lady Truelove. The duke was bullheaded in a stupid way, which was disappointing. Lady Truelove was the perfect heroine.

When Henry shows up at Irene's office to force her to rescind advice given to his mother through her advice column, he thinks he will just throw his dukely weight around and get what he wants so he can carry on with his day. He does not expect to find a woman who is in full control of her life and also in complete disgust with the nobility. He is unwilling to give up and hatches a plan to force her hand. This book was okay. It wasn't the best but it wasn't awful. Read it if you are bored. Sure. Why not?

Even though I'm not really in the mood for dukes and whatnot, I really enjoyed this one. Excellent banter, especially around the autonomy (or lack thereof) for women.

Disclaimer: read in German, didn't understand it well.

Can I just say: I love the cover of this version. No wonder many people can't take the genre seriously.

Well. My succes continues. My third book in german now lays in the dust. However, this was also the third historical romance, and I am now tired of the genre. I think I'll move onto something else.

After this I read the only three translated books of a four book child fantasy series that I've read many times before. Boy, that was cool. Since I know them by heart, the action wasn't hard to follow. So now I'm up to six books read in german.

I liked the first two thirds of this quite a bit. The characters were fun, had good chemistry, I LOVED the idea of the Lady Truelove column. I'm curious to see where this goes, so I'll probably read the last one.

My complaints were: the random affair they decided to have at the end?? Seemed unnecessary and dramatic?

But over all, pretty cute.

I don't really understand why there are so many romance novels involving Dukes, but I keep reading them to find out. A typical romance novel, but if you like them, the characters aren't annoying in this one.
