I don't really like books that take place over the course of one day because i find all the conflicts that happen to be unrealistic.

And there is no 'd' in REFRIGERATOR. Other than that, a very moving book.

This is a combination of everything that is good in middle grade literature: self-aware but not too self-aware characters, well-developed and distinct voices, ambiguity, a poignant story, and a search for identity amid uncertainty and change. Also, humor. Highly recommend.

Can't stop crying. So many phenomenal quotes and moments. Have my first student in mind to queue this up to... sorry for ending on a preposition. So. Good.

A heartfelt story of the impact of a teacher on 3 different boys. (A little slow at times if I'm being honest) but lovely nonetheless.

Beautifully written- the trio of Steve, Topher, and Brand is perfect for a split first person novel.

Wow! Amazing story of a wonderful teacher and incredible students! Can't wait to share with my students!

Perfection.

Super cute story about some 6th grade students and their favorite teacher!

I began this book with hesitation, for I feared it would be one of those books about teachers that seem written more to make teachers happy about themselves than to entertain kids and make them love reading. Thankfully, I was wrong. Ms. Bixby's Last Day is absolutely about the effect a teacher had on three boys, but the story is so much more. The boys skip school and experience hilarious - and sometimes frightening - situations, all to give Ms. Bixby, their beloved sixth-grade teacher, the best last day. In a sense, it is a coming of age story, where each boy comes to learn more about himself and his friends throughout their adventurous day. In fact, I found the characters to be extremely believable, with real voices. I believe that is what makes the book accessible to kids, but many adults (and teachers) will love it too. What sixth grader hasn't dreamed of skipping school and going on an adventure? I had trouble putting the book down and eagerly await rereading it. Ms. Bixby's Last Day is definitely a book to share with middle-grade kids.

Still crying too much to consider saying anything profound about this book. It was spectacular and emotional and beautiful and if I ever stop crying I might be able to actually write a review.
