The worldbuilding and art is absolutely beautiful in this graphic novel. I love how hair length is an indicator of how powerful a magic user is. Please tell me there's more, right?

This was really great! The art style is lovely and the characters are so unique. The magic based on hair is really cool and a very interesting, just an immersive new world to be sucked into. Nyneve is a great protag with diverse friends and I can feel so much building for this story I can't wait to read the next volume.
And thanks to this book, the next bird I get is definitely going to be named Banana.

I was sent this arc in exchange for a review - so thank you Lion Forge!
It’s honestly been awhile since a graphic novel has left me feeling this way. I’m eager, more than anything, for more story. Witchy ends in a place open to a second book, and I am very much looking forward to that.
But also, Witchy left me in that dreamy wistful state that a good book does. With its magic and nuance, you feel like you’re a part of the dialogue and story.
The world building in this book is delightful, and I was left with Ghibli meets low key Harry Potter vibes. Very, very good.

This is my first ever graphic novel/comic. I don't know what I was expecting. I liked the pictures but I had a hard time figuring out order sometimes, and it took me awhile to figure out the nuances of what was happening in quite a few of them. Definitely, not my preferred way of reading.
The story is incomplete, which I gather is a thing with graphic novels. I'm not sure that I will ever pick up the rest of this story. It's a big turn-off for me in standard novels if they don't have a complete story in one book. If I'm told ahead of time, then I will wait for the series to be finished. If I'm not, I rarely pick up the rest of the series. Maybe that's why I was never a big comic book reader.
The characters seem to have strange motives. And while I can appreciate certain aspects of the characters it doesn't solve the motivation issues I found, in fact, for me it makes them more problematic.
I find it hard reviewing only the first 4 chapters of a book because I want to assume that the rest of the chapters will solve these issues but I can't know that because, well, I don't have the rest of them. Oh well. I guess this ends my foray into graphic novels until Owlcrate throws another one at me.
