The only mystery/crime books I had read before this book were just Sir Doyle's and Madam Christie's ones, and I'm not familiar with Scandinavian literature also. So the first pages came to me with some excitement. And they got me hooked. If I hadn't had to eat, sleep & work, I'd have read it non-stop. Great writing craft, kudos to the translator also.

Wow, this was such a great read! A fantastic story of corruption & revenge - it dragged me in from the start. I enjoyed everything about this book & was definitely surprised by how it ended - I did not see that coming! This was my first Jo Nesbø book & I will definitely be reading more!

Jo Nesbo is the best! I loved this book.

I listened to 9 hours of this audiobook and just could not get into the characters at all. That would have been fine but I didn't enjoy the story either. This might have been a case of the audio not being compelling enough but overall this just did not work for me.

I am in the minority (from what I have seen) and so if you are a thriller reader please give it a whirl. Sometimes the reader and the book just don't mess.

Another entertaining crime novel from Nesbo. Good to have one outside of the Harry Hole series, so he doesn't wear that character into the ground, like some authors have done with their signature creations (I'm looking at you, Patricia Cornwell!) in the effort to put out a new book every 6 months to a year. Introduces a possible character to build a new series around, but also works just fine as a stand-alone story.
