I really enjoyed this book. It was really intense and graphic and felt like something you might see on criminal minds. The only thing I didn’t love was the romantic plot line- it was not needed. Other than that I loved it! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Graphic: Torture, Murder, and Violence
Moderate: Transphobia and Suicide

I’ll never look at Eric LaSalle as just the Soul Glo man anymore! To me, he’s able to standalone as an author now. I really enjoyed this first book of the trilogy.
Graphic: Violence, Medical content, Kidnapping, Grief, Pedophilia, Murder, Child death, and Gore
Moderate: Miscarriage, Terminal illness, Suicide, and Fire/Fire injury

The story is gruesome and heavy. However, there is a beautiful love story without trauma bonding. There is healing for the characters who deserve it.bibliofritz's review against another edition

I did a blended read of this book via Audible & the physical book. The physical book was given to me by the author via TikTok. This is my truthful review.
The first book in the Martyr Maker Series follows NYPD detectives partnered up to solve a string of murders. They team up with a female FBI agent who has been chasing the psychopath of this book for ten years. One of the detectives has a similar trauma as the killer, but by the grace of God, he chose the path of law enforcement while his brother chose the priesthood.
This book, due to the pacing of it, reminded me of SA Cosby's Razorblade Tears. The twists & turns just as you thought you knew exactly what was going on, then something else happens. Hold on to your seats because this book is about to take you on a thriller ride.
If you are pausing on reading this book because the author is an actor, then put a pin in that thought because LaSalle can write, write well. The book is visual. The reader should actually see the scenes because, to me, that is the way LaSalle's writing leaped off the page, cinematically.
