This book was hilarious. I loved, loved loved it. It has such a different story line while still giving you the paranormal characters you love and some that will give you the creeps. I love that I finally found a book with a gargoyle in it.
Jacinta or Jessie, is one strong forty year old woman recently divorced and glad to be divorced was starting her life all over again, she was not happy about moving back in with her parents until he found a job. This part of the book had me laughing out loud her parents are quite the characters.
It turns out that Jessie doesn't have to stay with her parents long, her best friend has an Aunt that is looking for someone to take care of a creepy old house a house that Jessie just happened to have visited before and had fallen in love with.
Once Jessie arrives in the quiet little town known as O'Briens her life just gets crazier and crazier and the book gets better and better.
I absolutely loved all of the characters in this book. The characters are well written and the scenes described in fantastic detail. I loved the twists and turns and the humor. The pace is just right and there is just enough action and that little touch of romance. I can not wait until the next one in the series comes out.

I had this book on my sights for some time since it's fantasy and the heroine is a 40+ year old woman. When Graphic audio adapted it, I jumped on the chance and finished it quickly. Jacinta (Jessie) wants to create a new life for her after her marriage ended and her son left home. She decides to move to a small town and take a job at a house she visited when she was a child.

I enjoyed this book, but much of it is slow world building, laying groundwork for what is to come. I truly appreciate that the main characters are much older than normal and the shifters have more interesting animals. Looking forward to the second book!

Knocks it Out of the Park

I was excited to learn that KFB was launching a new genre with a few other authors- about a subset of women that I can relate more closely to than a carefree twenty something. As expected, she nailed it!! This was the first PWF book that I picked up, and will be the one I judge all others against.

If you’re new to KFB books and happened to stumble upon this suggestion, read it. Any of her other books? Read them! Seriously, she’s an amazing storyteller- I just go ahead and preorder everything she writes.

If we're talking about shifter, what would you imagine?

Werewolf? Absolutely.
Tiger? Why not.
Phoenix? That'd be amazing.

But NO. We got rat and polar bear shifters. I had to admit that it was funny and I did not expect that.

Magical Midlife Madness is a first book from the series. It's a decent book with a good storyline. The writing is also easy to digest. Tbh, I almost gave this book 3⭐️ But I appreciate the originality about the shifters.

Cute & light book about a middle-age woman stumbling into a magical world.

I agree with a few others, 40's is not THAT old, so it made me giggle since I am that age -- the main character had constant back pain, joint pain and considered herself much slower. But to each their own experience I suppose.

I will probably continue to series -- on a day where I have lots of housecleaning and chores to do! It's an easy listen.

My first book of K.F. Breene's and I really enjoyed it. Jessie is a feminist after my own heart. She can take any situation and turn it around to the feminine perspective. A situation that could seem so commonplace for men could become potentially dangerous for women and I'm so happy she calls it like she sees it. Her characters are hilarious, especially Mr Tom and Niamh! Those two have some sort of tension between them... and I'm hoping my assumptions are correct, because that would be funny!
