Hall turned her dissertation into a graphic novel, does it get more bad ass than that?

Very insightful on the history of Black women during the slave trades, beautifully illustrated and really went straight to the heart. Thinking about all the stories we'll never get to hear because history erased them entirely

Unfortunately, the text was too small and the art had little contrast from the textboxes. This made it difficult to read.

An absolutely stunning graphic novel following Rebecca Hall's research into women-led slave revolts and the barriers that continue to exist (sexism, racism, a refusal to face the past) in researching these tasks. I thought the art was incredibly unique and complimented the story really well. And it's just a heartbreaking read to see how dehumanized Africans and their descendants were and how difficult it is to research this history.
