Amazing job. This graphic novel mixes memoir with real historical events. This took me a few days to read due to the subject matter. Slavery is heavily whitewashed and pretty soon it won't be taught. I am so glad I came across this and decided to read this. I hope Rebecca Hall publishes more books, I am already a fan!

I expected this book to be a purely historical account of women-led revolts, but it was so much more than that. The author does a great job navigating and leading us through her journey of roadblocks as she tries to uncover and reveal the history of women slaves. It was an important point--history often wants to hide its gruesomeness and those keen on hiding it are the perpetrators. The author's difficulty in reading and learning (or trying to learn) this history was apparent and obvious in the book, which was far more compelling in graphical format.
I have much to learn about women-led revolts, but I understand the history of slaves, which are often just numbers on a page, is difficult to find. I thank the author for her dedication in finding that history and sharing it with us.
