If you have read Sarah Dessen novel's before, you will not be disappointed. It is a good beach/summer read-- very familiar beats-- summertime, romance, young girl with unresolved family/personal issues to work through. It is all here, packaged with all the charms that I have come to expect in a Dessen novel.

This was a surprisingly good YA coming-of-age, self discovery story. I have read other books by Sarah and they are always good but this is my first 5 star rating. It felt more real to me than any others and I really connected with Emma Saylor.
I have never read Sara‘s books before. I really enjoyed this story. The story of Emma Saylor and her self discovery. Self-discovery in the sense of learning about another side of the family she didn’t even know. Coming to terms with her mother and learning why she was the way she was. Learning that it was OK to let go of the past while learning about the past. Connecting with those who were an important part of her past and learning how she fits in with the side of the family. I would love to see if there was a future book about Emma and what happens with the rest of the family.
I liked this book. It was easy, enjoyed and fast paced. I wouldn’t say it’s something that will stick with me, like I don’t think I’ll think about it much after this, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. It just isn’t very memorable, and that’s okay. But really loved Emma’s character development over the summer, she was like a complete different person in some ways and I think that was really sweet. 4 stars
I’m so in love with this book. Such a tragically beautiful story.
Slow to begin, it really picked up about halfway through. A sweet story of family, history, and summer love.

The Rest of the Story definitely lived up to my expectations! Another amazing novel by Sarah Dessen. The characters are so relatable and I found the story unique and very touching. If you loved her other novels, you'll love this one too!
