I am left speechless, as always. Listening to the audiobook was a fantastic decision. There is so much to be said about this book but I think the most important is to go read it and witness it in person. Here’s a snippet of just one of many of my favorite sections; “we are as inconsequential as the stars themselves. Supporting actors at best. Unless you are the first link between your earthly ancestors & the place they descended from.”

This is one of the greatest books i have ever read. there is so much i could say about the book sense of place, community, culture, belonging (and basketball) but I am wordless! Hanif's writing style is so unique and wonderful. The dedication page already had me tearing up, i knew it was going to be amazing. I think the Ohio we understand through this book is very similar to the cities we all come from, and his wisdom offered about inner-city culture and racism was so brilliant and different (poetic). I think everyone should read this book.
