One of those works that stops you in your tracks from how damn beautiful it is. Must read again.

The way Abdurraqib guides the reader through his train of thought is simply masterful. I love this book.

Hanif Abdurraqib pens a part memoir/part ode to basketball and how it has all connected to his life. The metaphors he draws between both basketball and real life captivate you even if you’re not a fan of the sport (luckily I love basketball and felt even more drawn in to the metaphors he used).
The themes he touched on ranged from leaving a place that loved you to homelessness to a cycle of being in and out of prison.
Hanif’s writing style here also skirts between poetry and prose and will sometimes weave between the two seamlessly, resulting in very vivid passages.
(P.s. all the LeBron stories and connections to his life are incredible.)
