Very good to start. But then....it just got weird? And I didnt understand why there were like 3 prologues?? Its an ok read. Colleen Hoover has way better books than this....
I was honestly so close to giving this a 5, but as the epilogues continued for 120+ pages and the prologue seemed a bit too much, had to drop it to a 3.

Anyone (everyone?) else notice a theme with CoHo books where there is a woman stuck in a TERRIBLE relationship and then a second angel of a man helps her escape? The details aren’t the same for each story and I do think it’s important that these are shared — because sadly these situations are reality — but it’s something I was thinking through while reading.
There was this movie with Jennifer Lopez called Enough a couple of decades ago. I was entirely too young to have watched it, but I find similarities between that movie and some CoHo books.
ANYWAY.
Too Late is fascinating as it was never intended to be published. It was a side project she was working on to help her break writer’s block for other projects. Eventually the fandom asked to see chapters online, so she started publishing and adding to this story as she went. That’s a pretty cool concept. Kind of like when radio had weekly shows that left people wanting for more.
The story itself ended around pg 255 or so. I would’ve been content with the final chapter. It was perfect. Then, we got an epilogue, and it was pretty solid. Not necessary, but I could see as an online reader how I would NEED to know what happens next for these characters.
But then there was the prologue, and it made me uncomfortable. Given what was already shared in the main story, I didn’t really need the level of detail from the traumatic event. And then there was more epilogue and I was kind of ready to be finished.
Asa is an absolute monster. CoHo really knows how to make me hate a character.

Asa never had a chance and it was so sad. I hated him so much, but at the end I understood why he became the way he did.

Y bueno, lo he leído. Ahora ya puedo certificar que mi instinto tenía razón: debí haberme mantenido alejada de esta historia.
¿Es distinto a todo lo que anteriormente ha escrito CoHo? Veamos: tenemos a la chica que parece fuerte pero internamente está perdiendo la esperanza y que debe cuidar a su hermano menor; y al protagonista "poético" que tiene un trabajo que impide que estén juntos (Slammed, much?). Tenemos insta-lust, insta-love, padres abusivos, stalkers y conexiones especiales, profundas y mega "únicas" entre los protagonistas (justo como en Hopeless, que casualidad). Tenemos los intentos fallido de plot-twists sorprendentes (uhjum, like Never Never). Y tenemos la prosa rosa y el drama barato (podría decir que como en Maybe Someday, pero en realidad eso está en todos sus libros).
Así que, puede ser más oscura, pero ¿distinta? Not really.
¿El hecho de que sea más oscura la hace mejor que sus historias anteriores? No, no, no. God, NO.
Es horrible. ¡Lo peor que he leído de CoHo en mi vida! Me la imagino viendo 21 Jump Street y pensando "a que sería divertido escribir un fanfic porno de esto". Por que eso es lo que es: un fanfic porno de 21 Jump Street, más oscuro pero igual de ridículo. Con personajes más enfermos y retorcidos que cualquiera que haya escrito Gillian Flynn, nunca.
Y el final... ¿Qué clase de porquería es esa?
Asa tiene sus traumas psicológicos, sus problemas mentales, y su abuso de las drogas para justificar su comportamiento. Pero Sloan y Carter, ¡¿qué?! ¡Ese epílogo después del epílogo ni siquiera era necesario! Lo único que aporta a la trama es la confirmación final de que Sloan es la más enferma y pervertida de todas.
Después de esto, ahora si que lo prometo, por mi salud mental y mi bienestar emocional: sin importar lo que digan la reseñas, nunca más volveré a leer un libro de Colleen.

Ok alors disons que j’ai pas vraiment compris le but de l’histoire ? Beaucoup de mal à lire les chapitres du pdv d’un certain perso ce qui n’a pas aidé, et les relations si peu crédibles + plein d’autres trucs… bref, vous ne loupez pas grand chose si vous ne le lisez pas.
En revanche ça se lit très vite (mais tw: violences conjugales, viol, violence physique…)
