This is the second book in the duology. Unlike the first, it is dual POV switching from first and third person.

I actually prefer this book compared to the first as the pacing felt quicker and the mythology is more fleshed out. The first book spends a lot of time selling you on the premise of the magic system but this one really develops it.

Overall a good book and a good series.

I was really let down by this duology. The concept was great, I thought it was interesting and original, which is what made me want to read it in the first place. Really poor execution, though.

This book wasn’t as fun as the first one. I really wanted better explanations for Ning’s special powers and was largely let down. Kang’s POV was not for me either. I sighed when it was his turn… It was good, but I wanted more magic and a better “boss fight” so to speak. I like that it was a duology, but the way it was written was like two conclusions in one book.
