Very good sequel to an already good page turner, I read this book in a week.

It found compared the the first one it fell flat. All the magic that was linked to the first book seemed to be only a passing thought in this one. Any romance that was built in the first book was gone in the second.
I read this immediately after finishing the first book, which was very nice, I would recommend it. I liked this book a lot, but a bit less than the first one. But ultimately it was a very good follow up and the duology felt complete and not too long. Actual rating is 4.5 but I can't do half stars on goodreads (for reference, the first I gave a 5/5).
What I liked:
- The journey, this book was great because we actually leave the palace and explore a good bit of the world in the novel. We also meet a lot of minor characters that I really liked.
What I didn't like: Nothing in particular sticks out to me, I think it's more just that I liked the first more, maybe because it was my first introduction to the characters and magic and so it was a bit more exciting of a read.
So if you read and liked the first, I'm sure you'll be happy with this one too, especially if you were tired of the palace by the end.
