A good story and mystery. Tommy was a police detective before the war, but since he is 3rd in line to the family title and estate, his relatives want him to resign from the force. Evelyn worked for the police during the war, although she didn't get to do any "real" police work. But Tommy's family considers it a fault in her that she did work for the police. Not considered something for a lady. But on a family weekend, the current Duke dies of poisoning, and Tommy and Evelyn consider they need to help the police investigators to find out what happened. Then the tragedy is compounded and Tommy is arrested. Evelyn has to throw a real fit and pull some major strings, but she gets him released because they don't really have any evidence. The Dowager Countess insisted he be arrested because she didn't feel "safe" with him in the house. So, quietly they continue to ask questions and observe as they work through the personalities in the manor. And there are some really different personalities present with all kinds of attitudes.
