The Gunsmith, Curt Adams, travels from Texas to Denver to help friend and private investigator Talbot Roper stop a criminal mastermind who in the past three years has been responsible for many major robberies. The criminal, Fat Gator, finds out the duo is after him and sends members of his gang to foil their plans. This results in a number of good action scenes. But Adams and Roper need help, and the Gunsmith calls on Bat Masterson late in the story to come to their aid. All ends well for the trio. Now, since they were in Denver, instead of getting Masterson I'd rather they contacted Custis Long, but that's a different universe. I don't think that The Gunsmith and Longarm have appeared together. Also late in the story, Adams pulls a Mike Hammer just not at the end of the book. I've only read a few in The Gunsmith series, but this is one of the better ones, and it encourages me to read more.
