This is the most satisfying and yet gut wrenching books I have ever read. I love it.
Rated by Amazon as one of the best books of 2013. A sweet, but gritty love story. I liked it.
4 stars is a bit generous but it is worth more than 3.
When I first started this, it took a while to get into it. Honestly I almost just gave up. But I pushed though and soon found myself hooked. Eleanor's home story is what did it. That terrible situation she was in. You might think it makes me a bit twisted, but it is actually more that I can relate in some ways. Granted nothing as terrible as this, but with the parent so self absorbed in their 'happiness' that their children no longer really matter in comparison. I wanted more of her character. How she was a bit, what becomes of her after this.
Park felt a bit more bland to me. But I really liked his parents. They act like opposites in many ways but want the same for their son and obviously love him and a really good people.

I have so many thoughts and feels that I can't put into words. I could read Rowell's writing all day and read about this story forever. Absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful.
Reading this felt very real, real and raw. Highly enjoyable.
Well teen love, it's hard to write it to appeal to a non-teen. Truth be told, I was more interested in Eleanor's home life and how that craziness would be resolved. I wish Rowell had focused more on that versus a back and forth "this is how much I love, need, and want you" from Park & Eleanor. Also, I was confused with why the eff Eleanor would suddenly let Park go like that at the end. I mean helloooo her life just got 1000x better and NOW she decides to cut ties??? Seesh.
I really enjoyed this. It was sweet, and there was a sort of simplicity that lay over the more complicated underlying ideas and plot points, a reflection of the actually portrayed relationship. Very easy read too.
I've kind of realised how there are a lot of racist issues with the book now though, which don't do it or Rainbow Rowell any favours.
