I’ve read this book before. I love this book. I love every Gillian Flynn book. I wish she would write more. However, I had a hard time getting into the audio of this. I don’t know if it was because the narrator voice just didn’t match what I had in my mind. Or because I have seen the show and it wasn’t as compelling as the actors portraying these characters. But still, this book is so freaking good.

A reporter comes back to her hometown, Wind Gap(?), to investigate two missing girls. She struggles with addiction, self-harm, and has an estranged relationship with her mother.

Overall this book was extremely well-written and a page turner, but I found it hard to read sometimes. Most of the characters were off-putting and it was often disturbing lol.

This was the first audiobook I ever listened to.

I had no words for how crazy this ending was. It was everything I needed. The show also encapsulates the book so perfectly. Bravo.

I know the MC has a lot of trauma but she was just really unlikeable. The writing was fine but the way the literal children were described in this book was really uncomfy (probably intentionally, but still not appreciated) especially since it was from the point of view from the main character who is what, 30yrs old?? And about her own sister ??

Wow. Absolutely disturbing story of mental health, femininity and mother-daughter relationships. The whole time I felt sick to my stomach about how the  generational trauma was depicted, but could not stop reading. Favourite of all time.
