The cancer theme (?) was a unique twist on the classic cosy mystery book club theme. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't anything special and I haven't been hooked into continuing the series

An easy listen on audiobook. Premise was cute but storyline not all that in depth. What I would call a cozy mystery.

I received a copy of The Tuesday Night Survivors’ Club through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
The Tuesday Night Survivors’ Club by Lynn Cahoon is the first in the new Survivors’ Book Club Mystery series. In this mystery, Rarity Jones, a Sedona book shop owner and breast cancer survivor, starts a book club for cancer survivors. When one of the group turns up dead, the survivors book club turns into more of an investigation club and the group starts to track down the killer.
I am a fan of Lynn Cahoon’s different mystery series in general and I enjoyed The Tuesday Night Survivors’ Club like any of her other books. The survivors book club is a totally new take on cozy mystery sleuthing and I definitely enjoyed this new angle. The characters are fun to get to know and the Sedona setting is inviting. I enjoyed reading this mystery and am excited to see what might come next in this new series. The only thing I found a annoying was the focus on privacy and sharing information at the start of Rarity’s Survivors’ Club, she is set in keeping everything strictly professional, but I feel like if someone in the group wants to share their phone number with the others or hold back certain personal info because they are no comfortable, that should be up to them, not the book club runner. That’s just a personal opinion, but Rarity’s obsession with this when the club first starts was a little much for me and took away from the overall mystery vibe. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this new series and can’t wait to see what comes next for Rarity and company.

1 ⭐️ I tried to keep in mind this was an ARC I received and things may have been unfinished/unedited, but that wasn’t the problem. The plot was jumbled, the characters entirely unlikable, and the writing was juvenile.
I literally only finished this because it took care of a book bingo spot and it still took me 2+ months for 170 pages.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will come out June 14!
This ended up being a 3 star read. I'm still relatively new to the "amateur sleuthing" aspect of a cozy mystery book, however, this book didn't really live up to my expectation.
The first quarter of the book read like a woman's fictional book- which I didn't mind. There was a lot of telling and a lot of describing things that I felt weren't that important. After this, the pace is still rather slow and I struggled to stay engaged. I do appreciate that the ending is wrapped up and everything is squared away. However, I felt that somethings in the ending just didn't seem realistic.
Overall, it was a good book (albeit a little flat with the characters) and I think if readers have already read their share of cozy mysteries/amateur sleuthing, then they would enjoy this book.

An interesting first in a light series. This was a good cozy mystery. I would read the next one in the series.
