Written by the award-winning creator of NBC’s Law & Order, it should come as no surprise that this book reads like an extended episode of a primetime television drama of a similar nature. It is fast-paced and well-researched, full of crime scenes and cop talk and technology and espionage….with a love/hate romantic attraction between the hotshot detective and the nosy journalist thrown in for good measure. The plot is action-oriented with detailed descriptions of weapons and technology (and very little depth otherwise), and I must admit that I was alternately confused and fascinated. While this is not the sort of book I’m usually drawn to, I think my “law-enforcer” husband will love it. I plan to gift him with copies of all three of Dick Wolf’s books on Father’s Day. (Shhhh – don’t tell him!)
