1/5 stars -- What did I just read?? I've never read Karin Slaughter before, so maybe this is just how she writes, but this was the most brutal, gruesome, disgustingly grisly book about violence against women I have ever read. If I expected that, I think I could have chosen to not read this at all, but I expected a mystery with some references to what was going on, but the vivid descriptions of what amounts to torture p*rn, quite frankly, leaves me with a horrible taste in my mouth. I will never be able to un-imagine what this author described happening to women and I regret ever reading this.

Way darker and graphic than I expected but a great mix of unexpected twists and turns. Wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out and was pretty disturbed at times but I enjoyed the wrap up of the plot at the end.
