This is a really good psychological thriller! Some may call it too graphic but I found the gore and detail to be fitting to describe the depraved mind of the serial killers and rapists. It was all very well written.
In 1991, a 19 year old pretty, blonde woman named Julia goes missing. Her body was never found and those responsible were never caught. 24 years later, Julia’s estranged sisters, Lydia and Claire, find themselves wrapped up in the mystery of their sister’s disappearance. Long-kept secrets are revealed and the identity of the perpetrator(s) is discovered. But the question is, just how many people were involved and how many other women “disappeared”?
I liked that even though we find out midway through the book who may have been responsible for Julia’s disappearance, there are still several other secrets revealed until the very end of the book. This kept me interested in reading further. This is the second book I’ve read of Karin Slaughter’s and I’m now a fan!

Didn’t grasp me right away. So listened to a couple more books and came back. Boy did it pick up and go where I had no idea it was going.

This book was so intense! It had some really graphic scenes of horrifying events that made me genuinely scared about the idea of my child being kidnapped. I can't even imagine the daily fear those parents live with. The twist with Paul was a nice touch, too. All the money in the world can't save monsters from getting what they deserve in the end.
