Okay the ending was certainly something! Reminds me of the 4th book of the Keys to the kingdom series though...

And another incredible story. In the fourth book, Jack, Aly, and Cass are trying to figure out how to survive now that the Loculus of Healing is broken. This involves a living statue, a tango with the Massa, and a dead friend.

What makes this book-this whole series, really-great is that unlike the 39 clues series that it is so often compared to, the seven wonders are key points, but they aren't the main point of the plot. Their significance is great in the series, but on the list of the Lerangis's priorities, the Loculii are pushed aside in favor of the actual plot and character development. This makes it so much more fun to read, and in general what greatly separates Curse of the King from the first three books.
