To me it felt like I was reading something from an older sister (yay!) who is whip-smart and extremely eagle-eyed about situations around her esp race dynamics. All the observations sound like it comes with a ton of reflecting and it was just what I needed, really nice to see some well-stated versions of feelings I have explained. Again, big sister! Is this what memoirs are for other people? Is this just representation? I wish I had this when I was even younger but I am so happy that this is here and out now.

Heartfelt and hilarious. Youngmi took me through the journey of her life from her ancestors to her son with candor and irreverence.

I saw one of my friends reading this book on social media so I decided to read it, and am so glad that I did. I listened to this book and cannot recommend enough.

This book is devastating and hilarious and sad and joyful and you really feel every emotion. I've followed Youngmi on Instagram for years and I knew she was hilarious and smart as hell, but holy shit this book touched me deeply. I relate on so many levels with many of her experiences even though the majority of her life I can't even begin to fathom. Just amazing and touching.
