Youngmi had a very particular humor that isn’t for everyone but I found her book to be entertaining. As a Korean, I also found it to be quite informative and validating. There’s so much to the Korean psyche that I can’t explain and Youngmi gets it perfect.

I first came to know Mayer from her shitposting. This book had some shitposting but it was also witty, deeply emotional, and funny. I’ve never seen an author intertwine humor and sadness like this before, and while that’s the whole point and also the reason for the book’s title, it was super well done beyond what I was imagining.
