4 Stars

Nalini Singh's story, Angel's Wolf gets 5 stars. Well written. Perfect flow. Great character build. Like a perfect melody. Left you well satisfied.
Ilona Andrew's story, Alphas: Origin gets 3 & 1/2 stars. Main characters needed more personality building. A good story, but not great. Left you feeling like something was missing.
Sharon Shinn's story, Nocturne, gets 3 & 1/2 stars. Was interesting. The main characters were fun & likable. But there were elements to the story that left me a bit unsettled.
Meljean Brook's story, Ascension, gets 3 stars. Was okay, but seemed a bit to staid. Started well, but too many rules for the hero/heroine that I found off-putting. They weren't allowed to protect themselves against humans.....really.
Which brings the book to a 3.75 stars in total. I rounded up to 4 stars. It's worth reading for the Nalini Singh story. Otherwise, its a take it or leave it kind of thing.

Alphas: Origins - like this. At first I thought it was part of The Edge world but I guess it is a new world. I want to find out what happens to Emily as she grows up.

I like the Shinn story too.

Really enjoyed these short stories ! I think they all were great stories, probably my favourite was Sharon Shinn, who I will definitely read more of her books.

Didn’t finish. I have a hard time getting into anthologies. I prefer full length novels to short stories that are obviously pulled from an author’s larger book series. It makes these anthology stories feel lacking substance.

I enjoyed all four of the stories. They were all very different despite the common thread that made placed them in the same book. Obviously I like the first two authors as evidenced by the fact that I’ve read several books by each of them at this point and that was part of the reason I picked up this book to begin with. That being said, I think I nearly equally enjoyed the last two stories whose authors I’ve only read a small smattering of.

While I didn't read all four stories in this book. I did enjoy the two I read "Angel's Wolf" by Nalini Singh and "Nocturne" by Sharon Shinn. I'm sure the other stories were fine too, but they aren't series I read.
