I've heard so much about the A Queens and Monsters series by J.T. Geissinger so I had to give it a shot after I enjoyed Pen Pal so much.
Natalie's fiance disappeared the day before their wedding five years ago. With scars deeper than skin, Natalie struggles through her days, especially when the anniversary of their would-have-been wedding approaches. Kage, a dark and mysterious stranger, arrives in town around the time of the fifth anniversary, moving into the house next to Natalie and stirring emotions she hasn't felt in years. Natalie quickly realizes Kage is second-in-command of the Russian Mafia, but doesn't realize he's been sent to collect a debt owed by her missing fiance.
This book was steamy and full of plot. The twist at the end was fantastic and watching the characters be challenged outside their normal behavior was exciting. If you're into dark romance or mafia romance, this one is definitely good!
