This was the third Anya Seton book that I have read and I thought at some point they might start becoming formulaic. Not so. The Winthrop Woman was very different from Katherine, thought both have very thorough history woven in a compelling story.
Though the book was written in the 1950s, it didn't feel dated. I did however, question some of the seemingly modern sensibilities of Elizabeth Winthrop.
Definitely worth reading for anyone interested in early American history, Puritans or women's roles in other time periods.
